Dr. Kimberly Velez is deeply committed to ensuring that every student in the Temecula Valley Unified School District graduates prepared for success, whether that path leads to college, career, military service, or entrepreneurial ventures. Over her 25-year career in TVUSD, Dr. Velez has served as a teacher, principal, director, assistant superintendent, and interim superintendent, bringing a rich and comprehensive understanding of the district’s culture, community, and commitment to excellence.

Throughout her leadership, Dr. Velez has championed innovation, instructional excellence, and student engagement. Under her guidance, TVUSD has seen significant growth in student achievement as measured by the CAASPP, with notable progress in closing achievement gaps for historically underserved populations. She has led the district’s site-support model to strengthen collaboration and coherence among schools, expanded opportunities for students to access rigorous academic and career pathways, and launched systemwide initiatives integrating artificial intelligence and instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.

A highly respected voice in educational leadership, Dr. Velez was named Riverside County Certificated Administrator of the Year for her commitment to student achievement, staff development, and systems-level improvement. She has been a speaker and panelist at regional and statewide conferences, including ACSA’s Women in Leadership, where she shares insights on leadership coherence, innovation, and organizational trust.

Dr. Velez’s transformative leadership has earned recognition across the county for advancing equity, belonging, and excellence. She is an active member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), where she continues to collaborate with colleagues statewide to strengthen educational systems and advocate for students and educators.
Dr. Velez earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Master’s in Special Education, and Bachelor’s in Psychology, all from the University of Arizona.

A proud advocate for students, families, and educators, Dr. Velez believes that great systems are built through trust, collaboration, and shared vision. She continues to champion innovation, instructional excellence, and a culture of belonging across all schools in Temecula Valley.
