Work Permits

Student work permits are required for minors who are seeking employment while attending school.

Students in need of a work permit will be supported at the school sites during the school year. 

Student Welfare & Success can issue work permits at the TVUSD District Office: 31350 Rancho Vista Rd.  Building 13 (Centralized Enrollment front entrance facing parking lot #1) From June 16 to August 1, 2025.

With the exception of scheduled Holidays, we're available to assist Monday through Friday 8:30am-12:00pm & 2:00pm-4:00pm. Please make an appointment to expedite the process.

Work Permit Instructions

A STUDENT MUST ALREADY BE HIRED BEFORE A WORK PERMIT CAN BE ISSUED
ONCE HIRED:

You may obtain the CDE From B1-1 

  • From the new hiring employer
  • From the following link: CA Department of Education website 
  • From a school site representative (during holiday breaks and summer, the district office/Student Welfare & Success representative can provide it.)

This must be fully completed and signed before a work permit can be issued

  1. The employer must complete & sign their section: “To be filled in and signed by the employer
  2. Parent/legal guardian must have signed their section.
  3. Student must bring the original, completed and signed CDE Form B1-1 (STATEMENT OF INTENT TO EMPLOY A MINOR AND REQUEST FOR A WORK PERMIT–CERTIFICATE OF AGE) in person. The original Work Permit to be issued, must be signed by the student
  4. The school or district representative will complete the bottom section maximum hours allowed to work and verify the student’s date of birth.
  5. The signed original goes to the school/district representative, who will prepare & issue the actual Work Permit for the student/minor’s signature.
  6. The school/district rep. will make copies to be distributed accordingly.
