Foreign Exchange / International Enrollment
TVUSD is pleased to welcome foreign/international exchange students for the 25/26 school year. Please read the information below for all of the necessary information for enrollment.
Admission
1. In order to apprive the admission of a foreign exchange student, the Superintendent or deisgnee must receive a written request for enrollment by April 30th of the preceding school year. (No students will be accepted in May, June, July, August, or September).
2. No students will be accepted who have entered the United States assigned to a "temporary home." No students will be accepted who are redirected to Temecula Valley Unified School District after April 30th for the following school year (this includes students originally placed with families in any surrounding districts).
3. No open enrollment (school of choice) is available. The student must attend the high school local to the residence of the host family.
4. All foreign exchange students must meet State and District immunization requirements.
5. Students must be fluent in English; no language assistance will be available.
6. The student must be affiliated with an accepted foreign exchange program. All accepted foreign exchange programs must be approved by the Registry of International Student Exchange Visitor Placement Organizations, as indicated on the California Department of Education website.
7. A completed enrollment/registration packet, along with official forms and documentation from the foreign exchange organization, must be submitted to the Superintendent or designee for approval.
Athletics
Foreign exchange students shall be eligible for participation in interscholastic sports if their sponsoring program is listed in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) bylaws. The CIF section must approve participation by other foreign students. (CIF Bylaws, Article 2, Section 212)
Diplomas
1. Students who attend as foreign exchange students for one year are not eligible for a diploma. A form must be signed verifying that the student has been made aware that they will not receive a diploma.
2. Foreign exchange students, at the discretion of the Principal, may be given a letter certifying the time period and the courses for which they were enrolled.
3. Senior foreign exchange students may participate in all Senior activities, including the graduation ceremony.
