Classroom Expectations

A positive classroom culture is EVERYTHING. Students should feel respected, safe to take risks, and motivated to collaborate and learn together. To ensure that this environment is established, we follow one rule each and every day in our classroom: DO THE RIGHT THING BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO! THIS VIDEO captures this message perfectly.

Do the right thing not because you'll be rewarded or because someone is looking, but because you should treat others the way you want to be treated. Give respect, receive respect back. Show kindness and it will come right back to you. Look out for one another; Respect my right to teach and your classmates' right to learn. We will spend a lot of time at the beginning of the school year establishing the kind of classroom environment you feel happy to learn in every day. If you decide to make poor choices that disrupt our positive classroom environment, consequences will be swift. Mean comments, put-downs, and bullying will NEVER be tolerated.
