Principal's Welcome Letter
Dear Alamos Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! We opened our doors to 948 students in our Pre-school through grade 5 program, 55 teachers and over 50 support staff. We are also so excited to welcome an additional assistant principal, Mrs. Nicole Downer and six new teachers to our nest! We just love adding to the Alamos family. As you may already know, we are FISH Philosophers! A great school culture isn’t something you pay attention to after the learning has taken place, it’s a foundation that makes learning possible. FISH! For Schools, is a philosophy that strengthens social/emotional learning, character education, classroom management, and human behavior. To find out more, please visit http://www.fishphilosophy.com/fish-philosophy-story/. So…O’FISH-ially speaking, our school of fish is ready to BE THERE, PLAY, CHOOSE THEIR ATTITUDE and MAKE YOUR DAY!
Catch the Energy, Release the Potential! Although we hope you enjoy our website and find it useful, it can no way convey, completely, what an extraordinary place this school is. Alamos Elementary School, Home of the Owls, is an academic institution that prides itself on being academically rigorous while developing in every student, a lifelong love of learning. The staff, students, and parents of this community are committed to ensuring educational excellence for all. AES is proud to offer a variety of different learning experiences for all children including a physical education program, visual and performing arts classes, visits to our technology learning lounge, and our school library. Parent involvement is just another ingredient to our recipe for success. The Alamos PTO, led by President, Casey Rendon, is over 600 members strong! This wonderful group helps to ensure fun school activities, family events, field trips, and educational assemblies.
New to our school this year… Be on the lookout for our AES Junior Ambassadors! Clothed in red polo shirts and bursting with enthusiasm, our 14 Ambassadors will be our meeters and greeters every morning before school and our spirit leaders at our Flag Salute Assemblies. These young leaders are already making a difference at AES and being helpful and supportive role models to all students.
I am looking forward to a wonderful new school year with you and your family. It continues to be an absolute pleasure to serve this community as principal and I can’t wait to spend this year with your child. I’ve heard it said that it takes a village to raise a child, I would add that it also takes a village to educate one! Thank you for being a part of our village, together, we will raise “our” students up!
