Public Hearing Notice for the Sufficiency of Textbooks and Instructional Materials Compliance for Fiscal Year 2022-23 - September 26, 2023
In order for the District to receive instructional materials funds for fiscal year 2023-2024, the Governing Board is required, pursuant to Education Code Section 60119, to hold a public hearing and make a determination through a resolution, as to whether each pupil in each school in the District has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials, or both, in each of the following subjects, as appropriate, that are consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum framework adopted by the state board:
- Mathematics
- Science
- History-Social Science
- English Language Arts, including the English Language Development component of the adopted program.
The Governing Board is further required to make a written determination as to whether each pupil enrolled in a foreign language or health course has sufficient textbooks or instructional materials, and sufficient laboratory science equipment for science laboratory classes offered in grades 9-12.
District practice continues to be that a core book is provided for every student for every class, as well as a commitment to the provision of proper instructional materials for every course/class. The District has also provided a standards-aligned textbook or basic instructional materials in History/Social Science, Mathematics, Reading/Language Arts, and Science.
The public hearing will be held during the open session meeting on September 26, 2023.
