Mission Report:  The Mission Report will be due on May 9th.  Please see Google Classroom for a complete listing of the assignments and grade sheet.  Extra credit is allowed and encouraged for this assignment.  Please log on to Google Classroom with your child for further information.  The written portion of this assignment will be completed in class.

Mission Impossible

1.) Title Page with the mission title, your name, and your teacher’s name

2.) Note cards/computer notes summarizing main ideas—all direct copying must

be in quotation marks and the author must be given credit for work.

3.) An illustration of your mission placed at front of report—report cover

4.) A one and one-half (1½) page report including:

A.) An introduction paragraph

B.) A paragraph telling who founded the mission and why.

Also, describe the mission life for the padres.

C.)  A paragraph or two describing the Native Californian tribe living at the

mission including what crafts/baskets, songs, and culture they had.

Also, describe what mission life was like for the Native Californian tribe.

D.) A paragraph describing any unique or special information regarding your

mission including natural disasters and rebuilding of the missions.

E.)  Conclusion Paragraph summing-up why your mission is important and why

others might want to visit your mission.  Why are missions an important

part of California history?

5.) A map showing where your mission is located in California.

6.) A bibliography showing your sources.

You may earn extra points by completing one or more of the following projects.

1.  Build a scale replica of your mission (50 pts.)
2. Make a scale drawing of the layout of your mission. (20 pts.)
3. Visit your mission and create a scrapbook of your adventure
4. Write Create a report/power point of an important historical figure involved with the mission.
5. Create a timeline of the missions including a few comments of how/why each was important.
6. Make a large drawing/watercolor of your mission.

Cal. Character and Open House

Dear Parents,

Open House is this coming Thursday at 6:00 P.M.  I am asking that students show-up five to ten minutes early to prepare themselves to present their California Character.  Their California Character final draft and speech may be found on Google Classroom.  Your kids can show you how to log in using their school I.D. and birthday.  The Final Draft of the Cal. Character has been graded and they should change the report to first person (I and Me) in order to become their Character for Open House.  You may help them spiff-up their report/script.  They should arrive dressed in their costume.

3/19 Moby Max, Bring your Cal Character speeches and questions to school tomorrow in order to practice for Open House.

3/18 Cal. Character letter went home today--Make sure script, and five questions and answers are complete by Thursday.  Open house is 6:00 P.M. on Thursday.  - Come dressed as your character.
