Interdistrict Transfer Request Into TVUSD - For Students NOT Currently Enrolled

2025/26 (Next) School Year:

Notifications will be sent via email no later than June 2025.

Students from Murrieta and San Diego County Districts

As of the 2022–2023 school year, Interdistrict Transfer requests between TVUSD and the following districts are approved for the entire grade span (elementary, middle, or high school):

  • Murrieta Valley Unified School District
  • All school districts within San Diego County

Once approved, students from these districts only need to submit renewal requests when entering:

  • Middle school (6th grade)

  • High school (9th grade)

Note: Students from all other districts must continue to submit yearly renewal requests up to, and including, 10th grade.


STEPS TO FOLLOW: 

*** Please complete ALL of the steps below (1-4). Failure to do so will be deemed an abandonment of the request. *** 

STEP 1:  Submit the online portion for the year you are requesting:  

• For the 2024/25 (current) school year, CLICK HERE

• For the 2025/26 (next) school year, CLICK HERE

A copy of the online portion(s) submitted will be sent to the email provided (please check your spam folder)

STEP 2:   Obtain required documents (2A & 2B):

2A)  Interdistrict Transfer Request Form (also known as "Attendance Permit" or "Release"). 

Contact and/or visit the website for your district of residence, to obtain an approved Interdistrict Transfer Request Form out of their district.  This applies even if your child has never attended there.

Murrieta District Residents:
To obtain the required form, visit the Murrieta school locator map.
You may access their Interdistrict Transfer form here. Please submit the form in PDF format, including your handwritten signature, along with any other required documents from 2B below to: transfers@tvusd.us.

Residents of All Other Districts:
Visit your district’s website or contact them to obtain an approved Interdistrict Transfer form.
Most districts will send their approved forms directly to TVUSD. You may also email the signed form in PDF format, along with any additional required documents from 2B below, to: transfers@tvusd.us.

2B)  Additional required documents:

*NOTE:  Please let your most recent school know that these copies are for a transfer request and NOT enrollment

TK/Kindergarten request: 

          • If applicable, copy of signed, annual Special Education IEP.   
          • No other documents needed.

1st - 5th grade requests:

          • Copy of most recent attendance report
          • Copy of most recent discipline report, or note/email from the school regarding discipline
          • If applicable, copy of signed, annual Special Education IEP

6th - 9th grade requests:

          • Copy of most recent attendance report
          • Copy of most recent discipline report, or note/email from the school regarding discipline
          • Copy of most recent grade report
          • If applicable, copy of signed, annual Special Education IEP

10th - 12th grade requests:

          • Copy of most recent attendance report
          • Copy of most recent discipline report, or note/email from the school regarding discipline
          • Copy of most recent unofficial transcript
          • If applicable, copy of signed, annual Special Education IEP

STEP 3:  Submit all required documents:  

Submit all documents from Step 2A) and 2B) above at the same time, via email and in PDF format to:  transfers@tvusd.us 

STEP 4:  Wait to hear back from us:  

Transfer requests are subject to space availability at our schools in the grade and/or program requested. 

If approved, we will attempt to honor your requested school.  However, we reserve the right to place students at any of our schools within the district. 

Notifications will be sent via email:

For requests received up until 15 days before the start of a school year: 

As soon as possible and no later than 14 days after the start of school

For requests received 15 days before the start of a school year and after: 

As soon as possible and no later than 30 days after receipt of the complete transfer request 

IMPORTANT: 

Do NOT unenroll / withdraw your child from your current school until you receive approval from us to attend one of our schools.   

Parents should plan on attending their district of residence until they receive a response.
