Interdistrict Transfer Requests Into TVUSD - For Students Currently Enrolled
UPDATES:
2025/26: Now Available.
Students from Murrieta and San Diego County Districts:
As of the 2022-23 school year, Interdistrict Transfer requests between TVUSD and the following districts will be approved for the entire grade span (elementary, middle, or high school) :
- Murrieta Valley Unified School District
- All school districts within San Diego County
Once approved, students from these districts will only need to submit renewal requests for middle school (6th grade) and high school (9th grade).
Students from all other districts will need to continue to submit yearly renewal requests up until, and including, 10th grade.
STEPS TO FOLLOW:
Step 1: Submit the Online Portion

Complete the online portion only if this is a new transfer request.

Returning students only need to submit the renewal release permit.

Renewal Families:
- Only need the release permit from their district of residence.
How to obtain your Interdistrict Transfer release form:
Check your district using the Riverside County School District Locator.
Murrieta residents:

Access the Interdistrict Transfer request form on their website.

Submit the completed form in PDF format with a handwritten signature to transfers@tvusd.us
Residents of all other districts:

Contact your district or visit their website to obtain an approved form.

Most districts will send approved forms directly to TVUSD.

Step 2: Wait for a Response

After submitting your Interdistrict Transfer Request Form, your child may continue attending TVUSD while the request is being reviewed, unless otherwise notified.
Response timelines:

Requests received up to 15 days before the school year starts: Response sent as soon as possible, no later than 14 days after the first day of school.

Requests received 15 days before the school year starts or later: Response sent as soon as possible, no later than 30 days after receipt of the approved form from your home district.
Please Note:

Transfer requests are subject to space availability at the requested school, grade, and/or program.

TVUSD reserves the right to place students at any school within the district.
Step 3: Annual Updates (Before Each New School Year)

Students not changing school level (elementary → middle or middle → high) may complete the Annual Update/OLR before their renewal is approved, as these are independent processes.

Students changing school level cannot complete the Annual Update/OLR until their Interdistrict Transfer is approved and their enrollment is confirmed.
