Teacher Induction

The Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) is committed to supporting the growth, development, and retention of new teachers through a high-quality induction program that is grounded in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) and aligned with our district's vision and mission for educational excellence.

Our vision—to empower every learner through equitable access to a rigorous, engaging education grounded in clarity, collaboration, and innovation—guides every aspect of our induction program. We envision a district where all students thrive because educators are empowered through purposeful instruction, a guaranteed and viable curriculum, and a culture of high expectations. To achieve this, we foster shared leadership, collective efficacy, and continuous improvement among our induction mentors, program leaders, and candidates.

The TVUSD Teacher Induction Program provides a personalized, job-embedded system of mentoring and professional learning that promotes reflective practice, supports instructional growth, and improves student learning. The program is designed to be flexible and responsive, taking into account each participating teacher’s background, teaching assignment, and professional goals. This approach ensures that every candidate receives both just-in-time support and long-term professional guidance.

In alignment with our district’s mission, the Educational Support Services team leads the induction program with a focus on:

  • Ensuring alignment to state standards, content frameworks, and district-wide unit planning organizers (UPOs);
  • Promoting innovative, research-based instructional practices that engage all learners through our instructional framework; The Essential Components of Instruction (ECI);
  • Using data-informed decision-making to drive continuous improvement and differentiated support;
  • Strengthening professional learning communities through vertical and horizontal collaboration;
  • Integrating technology and aligning time, people, and resources to support strategic initiatives and systems of intervention.

Grounded in these priorities, the induction program supports each teacher’s instructional effectiveness, professional agency, and commitment to equity.

The TVUSD Teacher Induction Program does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, sex, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, marital status, medical condition, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law in its admission, retention, or completion decisions.

All eligible teachers who hold a valid California preliminary teaching credential and are employed in a teaching assignment aligned with that credential are welcome to apply for the program. Participation and successful completion are based solely on the fulfillment of program requirements, including consistent engagement in mentoring, demonstration of growth aligned with the CSTPs, and participation in a reflective, standards-based professional learning process.

Through strategic planning, clarity of focus, and a commitment to equity, TVUSD ensures that every educator is equipped—and every student is empowered to succeed.
