TVUSD’s Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment department serves as a pivotal hub dedicated to shaping and enhancing the educational experience of all of our students. CIA staff functions at the intersection of educational theory and practical implementation, striving to achieve educational excellence through systematic planning, implementation and evaluation.
Curriculum Development

At the heart of the department's responsibilities lies curriculum development. Here, school site experts collaborate with CIA staff to design, revise, and align internal curriculum frameworks that outline the pacing calendars, unit planning organizers, and district benchmark assessments at each grade level or course. They ensure that curricula are not only comprehensive but also aligned with the Common Core State Standards, the California Frameworks, current educational research regarding instruction, and the evolving needs of students.

Department directors & Instructional specialists work closely with teachers to provide professional development opportunities, resources, and guidance on best practices. Department directors and specialists implement & support a full spectrum of assessment tools to measure student progress and proficiency.
