How to Help Your Child: A Parent Checklist

Check grades, attendance and work completion on Infinite Campus weekly. Click link to find out HOW. Email mmcgreevy@tvusd.us for Parent Portal assistance.

Become a Canvas Observer. Use website: Click LINK to find out HOW.

Ensure your child has consistent class attendance. (Tip: Set phone alarm - your own personal tardy bell)

Ensure your child is to engaged in class by turning their camera on, showing his or her face, and actively participating in online learning.

Ensure your child is attending intervention following lunch. See Bell Schedule above or click: Semester 2 Schedule

Ensure your child is completing/submitting asynchronous Monday assignments.

Have your child communicate directly with teachers. Email is a great way to communicate. Please allow 24 hours for a response, and expect responses only Monday - Friday.
In all your communications, remember to #GOKIND. We are all in this together.

Have your student completed a Peer Tutor Tutoring request. See below, or go to the counseling department webpage for more opportunities.

Ensure your student uses a planner keep track of course assignments.

Ensure your student have an organized workspace at home without distractions.

Ensure your student have an a set time to work on assignments/homework.

Tutoring Opportunities

Please check out our AVID tutor oppotrunities by clicking on this
AVID Tutors are available Wednesday and Thursday each week to GOHS students.
These are college attending, distict employed tutors.
AVID is a college going stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination is a college readiness course which allows for student to develop College Level academic skills and work habits while in high school. While AVID is a four year program, hop over to the GOHS AVID website and see if AVID is right for your student. While an application is necessary, students who have the grit to get to and perservere through college can ask their counselor about selecting AVID in the upcoming course selection process for the 2021-22 school year.

Spring 2021 Intervention Opportunities

Students are expected to attend class for FIRST INSTRUCTION
- Periods 1-6, start at 7:30 each morning for and include first instruction.
- First instruction is NOT repeated during intervention.
- Intervention is designed to provide students more time to learn content material AFTER first instruction is recieved.

Students are expected to attend intervention:
- When requested or mandated by their teacher.
- When they need support in learning content material.
- When they have a content related questions
- When they have scheduled either make up work/assessment or to retake an assessment, but it subject to the teacher's discretion.

GOHS has committed to the following schedule
- Tuesdays - English and World Language
- Wednesdays - Science and CTE
- Thursdays - Math and PE
- Fridays - Social Science and VAPA
This schedule is designed to provide students with the least conflicts during intervention. Assuming an assessment make up will take as much as one hour, please adhere to the above listed schedule.

Should students have two or more teachers requesting their presence on the same day at the same time, please use email to communicate with all teachers at the same time to work out a compromise that works for all - student and teachers.
