• knight Dear NVES families,

I am hoping that as I am writing this final message for the year, that you are all already enjoying your summer vacation.  We are just wrapping everything up here in the NVES office and are looking forward to our time off as well.  Summer is a great time to enjoy a good book.  I encourage you to take your son/daughter to the publice library for their summer reading program.  It is always a lot of fun and a free way to get books into our students' hands.  Try and get your children to discover and series they enjoy, that might even last all summer.  Don't forget we also purchased a summer workbook for every student again this year.  It has some review skills on their previous grade level, but is intended to start preparing them for their upcoming grade level.  It is a great way to keep those skills honed during the long couple of months off.  If you have not yet seen that workbook, ask your student about it, it is probably still stowed away in the backpack or hidden somewhere in his/her bedroom.  Just a little time everyday can make a huge difference.

I want to take the time to remind everyone of some important dates for the start of the new school year.  The office will be closed the entire month of July.  It will not be open to the public again until Monday, August 5.  You will be able to find out who your child's new teacher is, through the parent portal on Monday, August 12, after 5:00pm.  It is important to make sure all of your information, especially email is updated, in the parent portal at all times, so you can receive the most current reminders, messages, and access to your student's account.  If you are not able to access your portal, please reach out to our clerk, MaryAnn Vinole so she assist you in re-setting your account.  And finally the first day of school is Wednesday, August 15.  It is a modified day, so plan on picking up your son or daughter at 1:00pm.

Of course, we always hope that everyone is happy with the teacher their child receives, but sometimes that is not the case.  We ask that you give it a chance and don't fall into the "rumor mill" regarding others' experiences with individuals.  We will Not make any class changes for the first two weeks of school.  After you attend Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 28, if you are still unhappy, you can reach out to make an apppointment in order discuss a possible change of teacher.  Thank you in advance.  And again, wishing you all a wonderful summer vacation!

As always, if you have any questions that you would like to ask us, please feel free to send us a voicemail or email (charman@tvusd.k12.ca.us or ceagleton@tvusd.k12.ca.us).  I will be back to work at the end of July to answer emails.
