Mrs. Adrienne White
Welcome to ASL 1! I am so happy to start this year with you! A little about myself: This is my third year teachinng here in the TVHS ASL program. I taught fifth grade about 100 years ago before my husband and I had kids and I decided to stay home with them. We have 5 daughters aged 12, 10, 8, 6, and 4. There is always something going on in my house and you'll definitely be hearing stories about it thoughtout the course of the year!
I graduated from UCSD with my BA in Human Development and then went to Palomar college to get my interpreting certificate. After that, I realized that I really wanted to work with students full time rather than with different people everyday. So, I went back to UCSD to their ASL- English Bilingual/ Bicultural Education. I graduated from that program in 2003 with My Masters Degree and my teaching certificate. I moved with my husband to the East coast and taught 5th grade for three years and then we started a family. Five kids and four years of homeschooling later, we decided to make a change and I went back to the classroom. And now I am here teaching ASL to amazing students!!!! This year is going to be great fun and I can't wait to get into ASL with you! It is a beautiful language and Deaf culture is full of amazing people, art and experiences that you will have access to this year.
If there is anything you ever need to know about ASL or what's going on during class, you can come here, ask a friend from class or just come to me! My email address is below and you can come to me during breaks or before or after school with any questions you have. There is a calendar on this website to reference assignments and make up work information. Be sure to print out and turn in your signed contracts and sign dup for Remind. Both of those are mandatory for all studnets. I love ASL, Deaf people and Deaf culture and I can't wait fot you to come experience it for yourselves!
WELCOME to ASL!
