Mrs. Christine Kelly

Welcome Grizzlies and Grizzly Families!

I am proud to be a Gardner Grizzly, as GMS is a very supportive and rewarding place to be for students, parents, and staff alike! My educational background includes a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis on Neuropsychology from UC San Diego and a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership. This year marks my 21st year of teaching. I have two credentials: cross-cultural multiple-subject, and a single-subject in English. I love teaching with technology and enjoy using our Smart Boards to engage students in dynamic and interactive ways. Married for 30 years to Patrick Kelly, we have one daughter, Brenna, who graduated from Washington State University in 2015—“Go Cougs!" and is now on her second assignment as a TV news reporter for Channel 12 in Portland, Oregon. We enjoy the excitement of summer road-trips and cross-country travel—from here to Maine (and everything in between), and the fabulous food culture of Portland, OR. Gardening and reading biographies are also favorite hobbies of mine. I look forward to working with students closely to achieve success in all areas of the Common Core State Standards.

Remember to view my classroom website and the Infinite Campus grades portal often. This classroom website will be the hub of all information you and your student will need at home. Not only will it keep parents informed of what's happening on a daily basis, it is where absent students can always look to find the details of our day when they are absent. It will also serve as a source for extra copies of many of our important handouts so they can be printed at home if they are ever lost. English Language Arts is a rigorous class that requires focus and attention on every assignment, good attendance, organizational skills, plus lots of reading. Remember, English Language Arts is the engine that drives success in every other subject area! Students who try their best, spend 20+ minutes a day reading (including weekends/holidays) and take responsibility for their actions will have a fun and enriching learning experience.

I look forward to a most successful and rewarding year!
