Hello Gardner Grizzlies! This very "historical" year of online learning marks my 23rd year of teaching and I couldn't be more proud to be at GMS! Gardner has always been a very supportive place for students and teachers alike. I promise to do everything I can this year to continue our proud traditions. I want to maintain our connectedness with Gardner, even as we learn and work together from our home environments--at least for now.

To give you a sense of me and my life, I am so grateful to have been married for 32 years to my wonderful husband, Patrick Kelly. We have one daughter, Brenna, who graduated from Washington State University in 2015—“Go Cougs!" She is now on her second assignment as a TV news reporter for Channel 12 in Portland, Oregon. We enjoy the excitement of summer road-trips to the Pacific Northwest to visit Brenna and her soon-to-be husband, and the adventure of cross-country travel. I've been from here to Maine (and many states in between) twice! My garden and reading biographies are favorite hobbies. Best of all is reading in my garden--a true happy place!

This year will certainly not look like any other. We will all have something to tell our grand kids someday, as they'll hardly believe the changes we've all gone through in recent months. Even so, I'm certain we'll all be back to our traditional on-ground schooling, eventually! In the meantime, as always, I TRULY look forward to working closely with students this year to achieve success in all areas of the Common Core. In fact, I believe that lessons and engagement have the opportunity to be even more dynamic than ever before, as being 1 to 1 with technology--finally--could make a big difference in the lives of many.

What hasn't changed is that English Language Arts is a rigorous class that requires focus and attention on every assignment. Good attendance, organizational skills, plus lots of reading and writing will always be an emphasis. Reading comprehension is the engine that drives success in every other subject! Students who try their best, follow directions, and take responsibility for their actions through adherence to the online code of ethics will have a fun and enriching learning experience--TOGETHER WE CAN!!!
