Hello and Welcome to Sixth Grade!!

My name is Wendy Hunt and this will be my ninth year at Gardner Middle School. I have been teaching for 32 years! I have had the pleasure of teaching many grade levels including Kindergarten, First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grades.

I attended Humboldt State University for my undergraduate education and earned my teaching credential at Chapman University in Orange, California. In May 2006 I graduated from Walden University with a Master of Science In Education  with the focus on Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.

I live part time in Murrieta with the other half in downtown San Diego, with my husband, Eric, a compassionate bilingual attorney, who practices Social Security/Disability Law and my English Springer Spaniel, Harley Jr. and boxer, Trooper. My youngest daughter, Kelsey is a 2011 graduate of TVHS. She graduated from San Diego State University and University Honor's Program, Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, May 2015. She is recently married and is in her third year at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. She is studying to become a medical doctor. My older daughter, Kirstyn is a 2007 graduate from CHS and a 2012 graduate from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience. She is employed at Genentech in Oceanside as a Pharmacy Materials Specialist and she will complete her Master's degree in Forensic Science this September 2018.  Yes, I am a proud mama! I also have two beautiful grandchildren .

As you get to know me, you will find that I love reading books and literature so sharing novels with your child is an adventure every day! I will focus on producing positive experiences for your child and encouraging them to believe in themselves. I consider parents to be partners in their children's education. I promote open communication.

Sixth grade is a year full of building more independence, responsibility, and self motivation. What an exciting year this will be as we progress through the first year of middle school!
