Master of Science in Special Education

Mrs. Julie Gonzalez

Hello! My name is Julie Gonzalez, and I teach third through fifth grade at Alamos Elementary. This will be my 20th year as a special educator and 5th year here at Alamos. Prior to teaching, I worked as an instructional assistant in special education for six years in San Diego.

My passion is in helping students reach their potential both academically and behaviorally. I strive to provide a caring and nurturing learning environment where students are thinkers and problem solvers. I focus on the social-emotional well-being of my students and implement Zones of Regulation, so students learn to self-regulate. When students are able to identify what is bothering them and how to respond to it, they can focus on academics and socialization.

On a personal note, I have three grown children--all college graduates. Both of my sons majored in Environmental Science and my daughter is working on a second degree in nursing. I am also the proud grandmother, “Grammy,” of a smart, silly, fun granddaughter. She keeps me on my toes!

I am proud to be part of such a wonderful school with amazing administrators, teachers, and support staff and such supportive families!
