About Me

My name is Mrs. Mizer.  I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade this year!  This is my eleventh year teaching overall.  This is my fourth year teaching at LES.  For three years prior, I taught at a small Catholic school, St. Bernadette Parish School in Seattle, WA.  There I taught first grade for a year and second grade for two years.  Previously to St. Bernadette, I taught at a small public school in North Carolina.  I taught two years of Kindergarten and two years of third grade.

I hold a bachelor’s degree from Slippery Rock University, in Pennsylvania, in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a minor in dance.  I have student-teaching experiences teaching First grade in Pennsylvania and Kindergarten in Mexico City, Mexico.  I also have my master’s degree in Educational Technology from Lesley University online.

I am origninally from Ohio and most of my family resides there.  I enjoy living in sunny Southern California.  My husband, black labrador (Kaiya), and myself look forward to making our forever home here!  In my free time I enjoy reading, exercising, shopping, going to the beach, traveling, and trying out new restaurants.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that your child has the ability to learn and have fun at the same time.  I hold very high expectations for each and every student in my classroom.  I believe it is important for students to be oragnized and take ownership of their learning.  Throughout the school year, I will teach your child the tools and skills necessary in order to grow as a student and an individual.
