Hello Room 17 Families!
Last week we learned a lot about Martin Luther King Jr., focusing on how courage and a dream can change the world! We also reflected on our own dreams, as we thought about goals we have for the new year. This week, we will dive deep into studying Artctic Animals, as we work on our Arctic Explorer Journals!
This week we working on our Unit 3 Informational Writing assessment. This week, Unit 3 sight words and phonics patterns (silent e) will be assessed, so be sure to have your child practice any unknown sight words from Unit 3 through "wood." (First grade words are on the back of the yellow folder). Students will also complete a Unit 3 Assessment in Reading (Literature).
In Math, we continue our study of Place Value. Please also encourage your child to practice math facts a few times a week, as well. They might enjoy using Math Seeds at home, a new app attached to Reading Eggs. They can access both through their Clever badge.
Please SAVE THE DATE of 2/13/20, when our 1st graders will perform in a Sock Hop at 2:30! Information will be coming home on Wednesday.
We are looking forward to a wonderful week!
