Mr. Gonzalez (Mr G)
Hello, Hola and Aloha!
My name is Mr. Gonzalez and I grew up in Oceanside, California. I was a troubled teen and came from a broken home, so going to college and becoming a teacher is an accomplishment that I am very proud of and allows me to have a LOT of understanding, empathy and hope for Rancho Vista Students.
I started my teaching career after college at Oceanside High School teaching art for two years and then worked as a graphic designer for 7 years. After getting married I went back to teaching, teaching five years as an elementary classroom teacher, and then ten as an elementary art teacher. I am back at Rancho Vista High School for my third year and am very happy to be here.
I volunteered as a missionary for two years in Texas and served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm. I attended college at BYU Hawaii where I did my undergraduate studies and surfed the best waves of my life. I also recently earned my Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am married to a wonderful and beautiful girl, I met while in college in Hawaii, and we have three great kids, one son who just graduated at Chaparral High, another son who is a junior at Chaparral High and a daughter at Bella Vista Middle School.
I want to help students be happy, productive and successful in school and in life. I find art to be a powerful influence and class to further this goal.

Class Youtube channel
Hey! There is a youtube channel for the class that I have set up to use with my art class. On the channel there are helpful resources and videos to help with the class. It is also a great place for me to post updates and lessons. In my classes each student is required to create a youtube channel using their school email address. This youtube channel is where they can post their videos showing their classwork, assignments and projects for me to grade and family and friends to admire. It has been especially helpful with distance learning. So if students don't have a youtube channel of their own they should create one.
If you are trying to find my class youtube channel- search under Rancho Vista Art and you will see my black and white little kid pitcure and you will know you are in the right place. Don't forget to subscribe!
