Mr. Gonzalez (Mr G)

Hello, Hola and Aloha!

My name is Mr. Gonzalez and I grew up in Oceanside, California. I was a troubled teen and came from a broken home, so going to college and becoming a teacher is an accomplishment that I am very proud of and allows me to have a LOT of understanding, empathy and hope for Rancho Vista Students.

I started my teaching career after college at Oceanside High School teaching art for two years and then worked as a graphic designer for 7 years. After getting married I went back to teaching, teaching five years as an elementary classroom teacher, and then ten as an elementary art teacher. I am back at Rancho Vista High School for my fifth year and am very happy to be here.

I volunteered as a missionary for two years in Texas and served in the U.S. Army during Operation Desert Storm. I attended college at BYU Hawaii where I did my undergraduate studies and surfed the best waves of my life. I also recently earned my Master's degree in Educational Leadership. I am married to a wonderful and beautiful girl, I met while in college in Hawaii, and we have three great kids. We have two sons who graduated from Chaparral High, and a beautiful daughter who is a sophomore at Chaparral High.

I want to help students be happy, productive and successful in school and in life. I find art to be a powerful influence and class to further this goal.
