Within TVUSD, we seek to identify students who possess the talents and skills to be identified as GATE students.  We begin this process in third grade with teacher or parent recommendations based on classroom performance, grades and performance on standardized assessments, followed by participation in the Raven assessment, and questionnaires completed by teacher and parent to fully determine eligibility.

Once identified, students are placed in cluster classes and offered extensionor alternate activities through their classroom teacher.  There is no additional funding for our GATE program and as such, no additional activities or programs offered for GATE students beyond the classroom.

If a student participates in the GATE identification process in one school year and does not qualify, that student can participate again in the following year to attempt qualification again.
