TVUSD Governing Board Members
The Temecula Valley Unified School District is guided by a Governing Board composed of five publicly elected officials.
Effective 2016, Governing Board members are elected using By-Trustee Area Election. Candidates must reside in specific Trustee Areas within the District's boundaries and are elected only by the voters who reside in the same Trustee Areas. Dr. Melinda Anderson

Biography:
Melinda Anderson is a dedicated advocate for education with a strong background in science, healthcare, and community service. As the daughter of school teachers, she developed a deep appreciation for the impact that education has on individuals and communities.
Melinda graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Zoology, emphasizing Human Biology. She earned Dean’s List honors throughout her studies and received academic scholarships while serving as a teaching assistant in the anatomy lab. She also tutored biology, pathology, and histology during both her undergraduate and graduate years.
After earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Dr. Anderson scored in the 90th percentile on both Part 1 and Part 2 of the national board exams, earning prestigious Silver and Gold Academic Scholarship Awards. She has been serving her community as a general family and cosmetic dentist for over 20 years, delivering compassionate care and focusing on enhancing her patients’ well-being.
In addition to her work as a dentist, Dr. Anderson has volunteered internationally, traveling to India and Thailand on dental and medical service trips. She has also provided local volunteer dental services through organizations like the Sac Norton Clinic, Give Kids a Smile, the Mecca Dental Project, and Project KIND Dental Services for Riverside County Elementary Schools.
As a small business owner with extensive experience in business management and human resources, Dr. Anderson brings a wealth of leadership skills and a strong understanding of the complexities of managing diverse teams. She has also worked as an alternative school teacher in a rural community, which has deepened her commitment to supporting students from all walks of life.
As a school board member, she is focused on helping students succeed, building strong connections between schools and parents, making sure campuses are safe, and keeping things transparent. With plenty of experience working with diverse communities, she brings a broad perspective and loves finding creative solutions to meet the needs of every student. She’s passionate about making sure all students have access to the resources they need and ensuring the curriculum sets students up to thrive in a fast-paced, changing world.
Through her leadership, experience, and dedication, Dr. Melinda Anderson is committed to serving students, teachers, parents, staff, and the community with integrity, purpose, and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on education.

Emil Barham

Biography:
Emil Barham holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a Masters Degree in Education and Leadership, and an Administrative Credential, all earned from the California State University at Fullerton. Upon graduation from the university, Emil worked for various CPA firms (large and small), preparing/auditing financial statements and preparing individual/corporate tax returns. Emil later transitioned into the private sector, gaining experience in operations, sales, and marketing while maintaining his responsibilities in accounting and finance. In his early 30s, Emil left the corporate world to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an educator.
For twenty-four years, Emil has taught at every level in the public school system, including elementary, middle, and high school, primarily concentrating on mathematics. Emil has a broad scope of experience teaching English Learners and Special Education students. Upon retirement in 2018, Emil was employed by California State University at Long Beach as a part-time lecturer in the Mathematics and Statistics Department, supervising student teachers. Emil moved with his family to Temecula in 2021. He enjoys working out, traveling abroad, and beach activities, especially with his nephew Jaxx.

Jennifer Wiersma

Biography:
As a Community Development and Event Specialist, Jen’s dedicated to creating memorable moments for students and their families. Whether writing weekly newsletters, working with ASB, planning field trips, organizing graduation ceremonies, or planning a prom, Jen enjoys collaborating with teachers and administrators within the academic community. Past career specializations include: sales and marketing, organizational management, customer service, and college admissions.
Married for over twenty-five years and a mom to three young adults who have attended TVUSD schools, Jen and her family have lived in the Temecula Valley for 17+ years. As a recovered cancer warrior determined to live life joyfully, she loves hitting the beach, line dancing, serving in her church, and taking a variety of workout classes. Jen’s always up for conversation and a rich cup of Nespresso.
Believing in the goodness of faith, family, and freedom, she’s honored to serve as an advocate for parental rights while prioritizing an excellent education for the future of all TVUSD students.

Dr. Joseph Komrosky

Biography:
Dr. Joseph Komrosky holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Claremont Graduate University and is a tenured college professor teaching logic full-time at Mount San Antonio College. He also teaches critical thinking part-time at the California State University of San Marcos. Before this career, he worked in the field of nuclear medicine – primarily PET/CT – for over 20 years, helping cancer patients, and retired as a radiology supervisor. He also served as a former U.S. Army Airborne Ranger protecting our valuable country and is a disabled veteran.
Originally born in Wiesbaden, Germany, where his mom lives, he has lived in many of the 50 states, as a military brat. He moved to Temecula in 2019 and loves this community. He is actively engaged in Temecula and is also a board member for the non-profit organization Neighborhood Drop In, where he works with city officials to advocate for more actions, sports facilities, and better skateparks for this city.
He loves spending time with his wife and kids and also coaches youth soccer. His hobbies include skating, surfing, playing adult league soccer, watching Fußball-Bundesliga - Bayern Munchen, playing speed chess, and Frisbee golf. Overall, he loves being a professor, watching students flourish, and feels blessed to be able to contribute back to the Temecula community.

Steven Schwartz

Biography:
Steve Schwartz holds a Master’s Degree in Education as well as an Advanced Degree in Administration and Supervision from the City University of New York. His distinguished forty-year career includes classroom teaching, liaison to parent organizations, bi-lingual coordinator, teacher trainer, and teacher-administrator. He has been proud to be a member of the American Federation of Teachers for over fifty years and has served as a union representative in his school for twenty years. Steve’s experience includes working with children from elementary through ninth grade, with specialties as a math and Spanish educator. His broad scope of experience has given him a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by teachers, administrators, and parents as they strive to create learning environments that help all children thrive.
After moving to Temecula in 2004, Steve taught at Mt. San Jacinto College in a math remediation program for several years. He is now retired and enjoys playing golf and visiting with his adult children and two grandkids, who live in San Diego. Steve and his wife, Sandi, live in Temecula with their sweet rescue dog, Sadie.
