California State Mandated Hearing and Vision Screenings

The State of California vision/hearing screening is to be done in kindergarten, second grade, fifth grade, and eighth grade, as well as upon referral at any grade level. (California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Section 2952 (c)(1)) . Hearing screening in California public schools must be conducted by a Credentialed School Nurse.
Applicable TVUSD Board Policy: PHYSICAL EXAMS AND TESTING: (EC 49451, 49452, 49452.5 and 49455, Health & Safety Code, § 124085) The District is required to conduct certain physical examinations and vision, hearing and scoliosis testing of students unless the parent refuses to consent and has a current written objection on file.
