Information Regarding Transfers

  • Temecula Valley Unified School District is committed to offering families choices that provide the best educational fit for their children. To be eligible for a transfer, students must demonstrate satisfactory attendance, behavior, and academic effort/progress toward graduation.

    This page explains the wide variety of transfers parents may apply for if they feel a special program or school other than their child’s home school is a better fit for their child. 

    OPEN ENROLLMENT - INTRADISTRICT TRANSFERS

    The Temecula Valley Board of Trustees desires to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of district students and parents/guardians, while also balancing enrollment in order to maximize the efficient use of district facilities. 

    2024 - 2025 SCHOOL YEAR OPEN ENROLLMENT 
    OCTOBER 16, 2023 - JANUARY 31, 2024

    Please Review the Information Below Prior to Submitting a 2024/2025 Open Enrollment Transfer: 

    • If your child is currently on an Intradistrict Transfer and will remain at the same school next year - there is no need to reapply.
    • If your child is entering transitional kindergarten, 6th or 9th grade, you need to apply for an Intradistrict Transfer for the 2024/2025 school year if you want your child to attend a school other than their assigned school of residence. 
    • If your child will be new to TVUSD during the 2024/2025 school year, additional eligibility information must be submitted. 
    • All applications submitted within the Open Enrollment period are given equal consideration. 
    • Students who demonstrate satisfactory academic effort, behavior/citizenship, and attendance shall be considered for transfers on the basis of space availability at the school of desired attendance. 
    • Transportation is not provided for any student approved for Intradistrict Transfer.
    • We anticipate notifying parents/guardians of the transfer decision, either by email or mail via the addresses provided on the application. 
    • Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment in the desired school.
    • Transfer requests must be submitted for each student individually.

    OPEN ENROLLMENT - SUMMIT ACADEMY (TK-7) TRANSFERS

    2024 - 2025 SCHOOL YEAR OPEN ENROLLMENT 
    OCTOBER 16, 2023 - JANUARY 31, 2024

    Please Review the Information Below Prior to Submitting a 2024/2025 Open Enrollment Transfer for Summit Academy: 

    • If your child is currently attending Summit Academy and will remain at Summit Academy next year - there is no need to reapply.
    • Siblings of students attending Summit Academy will be given priority consideration. A separate request is required for each sibling. 
    • Students who demonstrate satisfactory academic effort, behavior/citizenship, and attendance shall be considered for transfers on the basis of space availability at Summit Academy. 
    • If your child will be new to TVUSD during the 2024/2025 school year, additional eligibility information must be submitted. 
    • Transportation is not provided for any student approved for a Transfer.
    • We anticipate notifying parents/guardians of the transfer decision, either by email or mail via the addresses provided on the application. 
    • Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment at Summit Academy

    2023-24 Summit Academy (TK-6) Transfers

    The Open Enrollment Window for Summit Academy closed on Friday, March 24, 2023. We are currently in the process of evaluating all transfer requests submitted during the Open Enrollment Window. Status updates for Open Enrollment submissions will be provided as soon as possible, but by no later than April 21, 2023.

    If you missed the Open Enrollment Window, but would still like to be considered for enrollment at Summit Academy during the 2023/2024 school year, please click here. Our last day to accept waitlist applications for the 2023/2024 school year is December 20, 2023. 

    Status updates regarding waitlist transfer requests will be provided as soon as possible after all Open Enrollment submissions have been processed. 

Types of Transfers

      Summit Academy (TK-6) Transfers

        • Intra-District and Inter-District Transfer Requests will be required of all students interested in attending the Summit Academy in the French Valley area. However, siblings of students attending Summit Academy in the 2023/2024 school year will be given priority consideration. A separate request is required for each sibling. If necessary, a lottery will then be conducted.

        • 2024/2025 School Year Open Enrollment for Summit Academy will be open from October 16, 2023 through January 31, 2024. Please use this link only for 2024/2025 Summit Academy Open Enrollment requests.

        • All eligible transfer requests submitted during the Open Enrollment Window (October 16, 2023 through January 31, 2024 ), will receive consideration based on board policy, regardless of the date and time at which they are submitted. 

         

        Our last day to accept waitlist applications for the 2023/2024 school year is December 20,2023. Use this link only to submit waitlist Intra-District or Inter-District Transfer Requests.

      Intra-District Transfers

        • An Intra-District Transfer is within TVUSD boundaries, between schools.
        • Intra-District Transfers are valid for all grades at the same school and do NOT need to be renewed yearly.
        • Once students promote to the next level (middle or high school), they are automatically enrolled at their zoned school based on their address.

        We are accepting Intra-District transfer requests for the 2024/2025 school year. The priority window for the 2024/2025 school year transfer request will be open from October 16, 2023 through January 31, 2024.

      Inter-District Transfers

      • An Inter-District Release is:

        • requesting to change from TVUSD, where the parent resides, to another school district

          - OR-

        • families who live in a different district and wish to attend TVUSD

        Currently accepting Interdistrict Transfers for the 2023/2024 school year. 

        Interdistrict Transfers for the 2024/2025 school year will be accepted after January 15, 2024. 

        Transfer Request OUT OF TVUSD

        If you would like to request an Inter-District Transfer Release from TVUSD to attend another school district, you may do so by clicking on the following links. 

        Fill out ONE ONLINE REQUEST PER CHILD for the applicable year.

        STEP ONE: Once you submit your online request, click on the link in the confirmation message (pop up window) and print the form.

        STEP TWO: Return the completed/printed form(s) to the district you are requesting to attend and wait for a response.

        Transfer Request INTO TVUSD

        SUBMIT ONLY IF you continue to live in a different district (i.e. Hemet, Fallbrook) and wish to attend the Temecula district.
