What is Family University?
Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) values the active role parents, guardians, caregivers, and family members take in their child’s education. In order to support this relationship, the Student Welfare and Success (SWS) department has been implementing a family education program entitled “Family University” since 2019.
Family University is a collaborative effort led by the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team in our district in partnership with community agencies and organizations to offer free workshops, family events, and activities that equip families with resources and tools that can increase skills, knowledge, awareness and confidence.
Our current workshops are primarily being held as online events, via ZOOM. We will keep everyone informed as to how each Family University will be offered and will notify our community when we are able to fully resume in-person presentations at the Temecula Valley Unified School District Office.
What is the goal of Family University?
Our collective vision is to educate, equip, and partner with our students and their support systems. We offer relevant and relatable programs, presentations and resources. These can effectively enhance the overall well-being of individuals, which can in turn impact our community in various positive ways.
We carefully select topics that encourage a healthy and successful school year.
Prior topics include: Bullying Prevention, Family Dynamics, Personal Empowerment, Resilience, Responsibility, Coping or Managing Stress & Anxiety, Suicide Awareness & Prevention, Internet Safety, Connection & Relationships, Grief & Loss, Nurturing Empathy & Compassion, Respect of Self & Others, and Parenting Tools, to name a few.
