Welcome to the 2023/2024 school year!

I am Julianne Hinkel and this is my 10th year teaching Special Education with TVUSD. I have a Bachelors degree from University of Phoenix and a Masters' degree in Special Education from National University. I have been here at Susan Nelson for three years and I absolutely love working with students in independent studies! I am passionate about helping my students not only graduate but be ready for life after high school. This process is called transition and it's essential for being prepared to gain more education, training, employment and independence after graduation. 

About me...I am married and have two awesome grown kids. My son graduated from Cal State Fullerton where he majored in American Studies and played baseball. He is now going to grad school and playing baseball at Coastal Carolina University.  My daughter graduated from Siena University where she majored in nursing while also playing volleyball. She now works for Duke University Hospital, where she is a Neuro ICU nurse!

I hope to help each one of my students find their strengths and be successful at Susan Nelson.
