What is Parent University?
Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) values the active role parents take in their child’s education. In order to support this relationship, the Student Welfare and Success Department is implementing a parent education program for the 2019-2020 school year entitled “Parent University.” Parent University is a community collaborative effort led by the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Team in the Temecula Valley Unified School District to assist parents to become full partners in supporting their children’s social-emotional and academic needs. TVUSD partners with community agencies and organizations to offer free workshops, family events, and activities that will equip families with new or additional skills, knowledge, resources, and confidence.
What is the goal of Parent University?
The Student Welfare and Success (SWS) department introduced the SEL Team to all school sites during the 2018-2019 school year, with a majority of the focus on supporting students during the school day. Our collective vision is to educate, equip, and partner with our students and their support systems by offering a wide variety of relevant and effective programs and resources that will make a positive impact on the individual and the community. Workshops are held at the Temecula Valley Unified School District Office. The workshops will include a range of topics such as Tips for a Good School Year, Bullying Prevention, Navigating Our Digital World, Suicide Prevention, and Trauma-Informed Practices.
