Hello! I am Mrs. Cooper and thank you for visiting my webpage!

I am the Visual Art's teacher here at Day Middle School. I have been teaching here at DMS for 16 years! I teach all grades, which is great because students who love art can take it all 3 years of middle school. My 6th graders are in my class for just one quarter, then they move on in the Explore Wheel rotation. 7th graders have my class for 1 semester then switch to another Explore class. Advanced Art students are in art for the entire year. This class is for 8th grade students who are dedicated and really enjoy art. Advanced Art students must meet specific requirements to be in the class.

I believe that all students can benefit from taking an art class, regardless if they are "good at art" or if they plan to further their art education. Students can always benefit from learning basic art skills. They will become better observers of the world around them, and they can carry over what they've learned in art to their other subjects.

I love to build a good rapport with my students. I believe that students are more successful when they have a good relationship with their teacher. I'd like to say that students are happy in my class and feel that they are in a safe environment to create and explore.
