    Mu Alpha Theta Mission Statement

    Mu Alpha Theta is dedicated to enriching the lives of students within the discipline of mathematics throughout Great Oak high School and beyond. Our approach to this goal is twofold: weekly meetings to stimulate interest and participation in mathematics at Great Oak, and competitions to allow students to apply what they’ve learned and increase their understanding of mathematics in general. Through weekly club meetings, we intend to provide an accessible resource  for students of all levels of mathematics at Great Oak by holding lectures regarding interesting and relevant mathematical topics at least once a month. Club meetings also offer a place for students to explore and express their ideas through a supplemental math curriculum. By participating in competitions across Southern California, Mu Alpha Theta members will be able to challenge themselves in a rigorous extracurricular environment, and provide opportunities for recognition of Great Oak and the individuals who compose our excellent mathematics program.
