Meeting Diverse Student Needs
Dear BES Families,
This year we will continue to utilize a Grade Level approach to Response to Intervention (RtI) to serving all students in grades K-5. Through this model we aim to shine a light on the individual student, putting into action an academic program that meets their individual needs. As we are in our fourth year of implementation, we are excited about the program and what it will continue to do for students throughout this year and into the future!
In this program, students receive targeted, specific instruction based on individual student need determined by their teacher for a four to five week session. Teachers use not only in class observations, but also the assessment results from Common Interim District Assessments and Teacher Created Assessments. Once the session is complete, students are re-assessed by their teacher and moved into a new group. We plan to complete four of these sessions throughout the school year. These classes are taught three days per week, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 - 11:30. While this may seem like a different approach to meeting the needs of BES students, this model allows the entire BES staff to provide intervention and enrichment to meet each child’s individual needs using the strengths and talents of our entire staff from teachers to instructional aides to administrators.
We are very excited about the program and we know that it will help each child reach their individual potential. If you have any questions, or would like to be a part of the program, please do not hesitate to call or email.
