AP English Language Classwork/Homework

  • Monday, 6/3/19:

    • Today in class students meet in Library Lab 127 to submit links to their e-portfolios and work on group poetry presentations.

    • Review e-portfolio to be sure all expectations have been meet and to be sure each piece of writing uploaded contains a written reflection explaining the prompt, student strengths, areas of challenge, and interest.

    • Group poetry presentations are due by the start of class on Friday, June 7th.

    • Today in class students returned textbooks to the library and continued viewing clips from Dead Poet's Society.

    • E-portfolios due by Monday, 6/3/19.  Meet in Library Lab 127 on both Monday and Tuesday.

     

    Thursday, 5/30/19:

    • Today in class students reviewed a poerty project that will be presented on finals day, selected poety groups, began analyzing a poem in student groups and viewed another clip from Dead Poet's Society.

    • Today in class students selected four pieces of writing to create pdfs. for and to upload to their e-portfolio.  When finished students began viewing clips from Dead Poet's Society.

    • Today in class students reviewed models from their Momaday vs. Brown rhetorical analysis essays and received back their own writing.

    • Today in class students read and annotated novel notes on H. G. Wells's The Time Machine and worked collaboratively to complete a SATIRE organizer for the text.

    • Be prepared to take a reading test and turn in The Time Machine Study Guides at the start of class tomorrow.

     

    Friday, 5/17/19:

    • Today in class students finished reading H.G. Wells's The Time Machine and finished their study guide questions.

    • Be sure you have completed your reading of The Time Machine and have finished all study guide questions prior to the start of class on Monday as you will take a reading comprehension quiz on the book.

     

    Thursday, 5/16/19:

    • Today in class students played scrabble and colored to destress after this morning's AP World History exam.

    • Bring The Time Machine to class tomorrow.  We will resume our reading of the text in class.  Students should have already read through the end of chapter nine.  If you are behind in your reading be sure to catch up prior to the start of class.

    • Today in class students finished the second round of Rhetorical Analysis Prep. Hot Seat Socratics.  In addition, students reviewed last-minute test reminders and tips.

    • Study, exercise, eat healthily and get plenty of sleep before tomorrow's exam.

    • Today in class students completed a Satire warm-up and participated in the first round of Rhetorical Analysis Prep. Hot Seat Socratics.

    • Today in class students participated in an Argument Cafe and recorded notes on their Argument Prep. packets in a new color.  In addition, students review what to take with them on exam day and what to leave behind.

    • Today in class students checked out Rebecca Skloot's The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.  In addition, students viewed an introductory interview with the author, reading a supplementary intro to the author and her text, and began reading the book's prologue.
