• Math 6 Overview:

The following are major concepts covered this year according to the California math standards-

    (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division, and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking.

We will also cover foundational skills in Geometry such as area, surface area, and volume.

    Compacted 6 Overview:

This compacted course will cover the 6th and 7th grade standards listed below according to the California math standards-

6th Grade: (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division, and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking.

We will also cover foundational skills in Geometry such as area, surface area, and volume.

7th Grade: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations; (3) solving problems involving scale drawings and informal geometric constructions, and working with two- and three-dimensional shapes to solve problems involving area, surface area, and volume; and (4) drawing inferences about populations based on samples.

    Math Grading Scale:

    10% Classwork/Task Performances

    80% Assessments

    10% Semester Final

    DreamBox Grading Scale *updated 12/2

Each week (Sunday-Saturday) students must login to Clever and then login into DreamBox. Listed below are the grades students will earn depending on number of lessons

    completed:

    • 5 lessons = 100%
    • 4 lessons = 90%
    • 3 lessons = 80%
    • 2 lessons = 70%
    • 1 lessons = 60%
    • 0 lessons but some time completed= 50%

Below are helpful video links that I will add to our website as we learn new concepts. Make sure to look back at your math composition book for notes/examples that we wrote in class.
