Beginning Dance meets the F category in the A-G requirements and provides students with the opportunity to explore all kinds of dance. The class is open to all levels of students - from students who have absolutely no dance experience to students who have been dancing for a long time. The course covers the traditional forms of theater dance, such as ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theater, as well as forms of world and cultural dance. Throughout the year, there are multiple in-class performances, and students of all levels will have the opportunity to choreograph their own pieces. More advanced students are welcome to choreograph pieces that they may then teach to the class.
Students of any grade level may enroll in Beginning Dance. The course counts for 1 year of PE credit and/or 1 year of VAPA credit (depending on the student's grade level and graduation needs).
