Health Office Updates:
Hello GOHS families, here are a few health office reminders:
- Emergency Health Care Plans currently in place will remain in effect. We will no longer be sending them home for signature and return. If there are changes that need to be made to the Emergency Plan please email mingram1@tvusd.us with the changes needed.
- CIF concussion protocols and documents can be found on this site. If your student requires any medications at school or has a physical limitation please print those documents from the website, fill out, and return them to the health office.
- New medication orders are needed at the beginning of each school year. Prescribed medications need to be in the prescription bottle. Over the counter medications need to be in a new unopened package.
- Any student who is self-carrying an inhaler or epi-pen needs to have a completed medication order in the health office. The self-carry orders will need the second page filled out and signed by the physician ensuring the student knows how to self-administer.
- Students are not allowed to self-carry pills of any kind.
- Orders from physician/providers offices are acceptable if all of the district required information is present on the order and the order is signed by the physician/provider. Parents and students will still be required to sign the district form for permission to administer, per ed code requirements. The order and district form with signatures can be stapled and brought to the health office.
- Please list all medical conditions within the annual Online Registration. That is where we get our information regarding your students health and it helps us to treat them in an efficient manner.
- If you list an allergy for your student: please specify the allergy in the comments within Online Registration.
Students who are ill or struggling with a chronic condition are unable to focus and unable to do their best academically. Their attendance declines and makes it difficult for them to catch up. This is a cycle that we work hard to prevent. We strive to maintain the highest level of health and well-being for all of the students at GOHS.
We are excited and look forward to the upcoming year!

Healthy Students Learn Better!
-
Although it is important for students to be at school every day, the health staff would like to review the general guidelines for students coming to school. Please take a few moments to read the following protocols:

- Fever (100 or above)
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Nausea with or without vomiting
- Rash
- Pain that is not controlled
- Flu symptoms
- Infectious Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye). This requires a physician's visit.
Students may return to school when:
- Fever-free for 24 hours
- No vomiting for the last 24 hours
- Infectious Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) - when antibiotic treatment has been administered for at least 24 hours and symptoms have subsided.
- Rash resolved or MD note documenting that it is not contagious.
FORMS
Phone Numbers and Emergency Contacts
-
It is imperative that parents' current work, home, cell phone numbers and emergency contact numbers are available should your child experience an unexpected illness, injury, or emergency at school. Please take the time to update any changes in your personal phone numbers and emergency contact numbers. Please access the parent portal in Infinite Campus and add your contact numbers.
Medication at School
-
California Education Code 49423 requires that all students requiring medication during the school day, both prescribed medications and over-the-counter, have physician's order for the medication and signed permission from the parent authorizing the health office to administer the medication. Please download the form from this page and have your physician complete it. All medications must be kept in the health office. Students may not carry medication on them on campus. The only exceptions are emergency inhalers and EPI PENS, but the physician's order and authorization to carry are still required. Students found carrying unauthorized medications may be subject to disciplinary action. Please help us to keep our campus safe, healthy, and drug-free.
PE Excuses, Crutches, and Wheelchairs
-
Students with injuries requiring the use of wheelchairs, crutches, splints, and/or braces require a physician's note describing their physical activity limitations. All physician's notes for PE excusal or limitations are to be brought to the health office. The health office logs the notes and informs the PE teacher. Parents may write a note for their child to be excused from PE for up to 3 days. After 3 days, a physician's note is required.
