About Ms. Collins


  • Stevie Collins has been working in the public school system for 18 years, first as a sign language interpreter and advocate and later as an ASL teacher. She has a Bachelor's degree in Interpreting and a Master's degree in Special Education with an emphasis on Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Deaf Education, and Linguistics. She holds her teaching credential in ASL and hopes to one day pursue a doctorate in Psychology for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.

    She also has been working as a certified Support Service Provider (SSP) for persons who are Deaf-Blind for over 16 years and volunteers as an SSP at a semi-annual retreat every other October for Deaf-Blind adults. She began learning ASL at the age of 6, teaching herself basic signs as well as the fingerspelled alphabet. She has now been fluent in the language and part of the Deaf community for over 18 years. 

    Ms. Collins lives in Menifee, CA with her two adopted daughters, Sophia (age five) and Ava (age three). Ms. Collins is an avid reader, a fan of science fiction, a self-proclaimed comedic genius, and a lover of the great outdoors. Ms. Collins is also a published artist and has worked for the online, collaborative production company hitRECord® since 2011. She has also immersed herself into the world of cinema production and has been working as an Assistant Producer and Transcriptionist with Space|Dream Productions® since 2015.

    Stevie Collins has been a proud member of the Golden Bear family for six years now and is fully dedicated to making the 2019-2020 school year the best one yet!
