Learning a world language opens your doors in amazing ways. You get to learn about and communicate with a whole new set of cultural experiences, amazing people and incredible foods. But like everything that is good in life it takes work. It takes hard work and dedication to make the choice to do well and motivate yourself to do better. Don't get me wrong, you will have my support right next to you, and my 25+ years of experience teaching, right at your side the entire way. I don't give up. I know it can be done and you need to believe me when I say it can be done.

How do I know it can be done. I have been there and done that. My first language is Spanish. I was born in Spain. My parents brought me from Spain as a baby and I went back every summer. I know this was difficult because Spain is an amazing country, but the United States offers a wealth of opportunity. I had to learn English almost all by myself. My dad worked long hours and my mother studied French in school. In fact she would speak in French with her siblings when they did not want me to know what they were saying. So here I was in Irvine, California with only learning English from the TV and my friends around the neighborhood trying to learn English. It was literally sink or swim, and swim I did. I learned English really well, then I learned French and then I got a degree in Linguistics to top it all off. I love langauge acquisition. I thrive on learning new ways to learn and teach language. I constantly study how the brain works to build new linguistic skills, I amazes me and a completely nerd out on it.

So here I was graduated from college going to work as a translator for the courts and it was not for me. My mentor said, "try teaching in Moreno Valley" they need teachers. That I did. I loved it! I loved seeing kids learn. I found my calling. Then I thought maybe I should follow other opportunities and I applied for the FBI. Guess what? I was offered a job as an "Information Specialist". It paid the same as teaching, I had to work 11.5 months a year and I had a 2 year old son. Sorry, I was not about to leave my amazing teaching job and risk it all. My heart was and is in teaching. I love seeing young minds develop. The spark when they finally get it, there is no comparison. So here I am, 25+ year later, teaching and loving it.
