Services for English Language Learners

  • Welcome to the Services for English Learners department at the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Our mission is to provide you with information about the range of educational programs and services that are available to students who are learning English, as well as to their families.

Temecula Valley Unified School District is committed to working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, support staff, district staff, community members, students, and parents to provide the most effective instructional programs for English Learners.

Goals

    1. English learner (EL) programs will be fully implemented. Additionally, the plan will include the measure of how the district will evaluate the effectiveness of its EL program.

    2. Parents of English learners and Reclassified Fluent English Proficient Students (RFEPs) will participate meaningfully in their children's education.

    3. English learners will master the English language as efficiently and effectively as possible.

    4. English learners will achieve academic success as measured by local and state measures.

    5. English learners and reclassified fluent English proficient students will be at no greater risk for school failure than students who only speak English.

    6. English learners’ participation in advanced academic programs and enrichment opportunities (eg. Advanced Placement Courses, dual enrollment, GATE, college entrance exam preparation, university enrollments) will increase.

    7. Guidance will be provided on the delivery of ELD to EL students in special education and their access to appropriate intervention.
