Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Sonya Tinaz and I am thrilled to be teaching 1st grade at Rancho Elementary this year. I have been teaching for over 18 years and this is my 3rd year with TVUSD. I grew up in Northern Virginia and previously taught 2nd grade with Loudoun County Public Schools. I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Spanish and then completed my Masters degree in Education at Shenandoah University.

I moved to Temecula California in 2021 to marry my husband Marc. We have a blended family with 6 children, ages 28, 26, 24, 23, 21 and 19. My husband Marc is active military and has been with the Navy for over 30 years.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, watching sports and relaxing.  In addition, I love to travel, listen to live music and I have a passion for exercise. I have competed in several triathlons and completed 6 marathons, with the Boston marathon being the most recent.  

I look forward to working together this school year and helping your child grow academically, socially ,and emotionally and instill in each student a love of learning.
