Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Sarah Barnes and I am loving working as a speech-language pathologist here at La Vorgna Elementary school. I am currently in my clinical fellowship year working under Elizabeth Portillo.
I earned my masters degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University, following my bachelors degree in Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education from Utah State University. During my masters program I worked as a student practitioner in a variety of settings including schools, pediatric private practice, and at an outpatient rehabilitation clinic treating a wide range of disorders in both children and adults.
I've come to be an SLP as a second career in life. Previously I spent 16 years in the video game industry working as an animation and special effects artist. I enjoyed my first career, but am hopeful to create change as I am now in a field where I can have a direct impact on an individual's ability to communicate in this world.
In my free time I enjoy crafting, listening to live music, advocating for animals and people, and going on adventures with my fabulous daughter.
I look forward to continue working with your children!
