Trustee Areas

By-Trustee Area Map, Explanation, Timeline and Actions

During the 2015-2016 school year, the Governing Board voted to change from selecting Board of Education members through an "at-large" elections process to elections "by-trustee area."

A By-Trustee Area Election System means the district is divided into trustee areas where the governing board member must reside. The Governing Board members are elected by only the registered voters in the particular trustee areas.

Below is the timeline of activities associated with the process.  The District hosted three public information meetings and three public hearings prior to the Board's action on February 16, 2016.  On February 16, 2016, the Governing Board took action and adopted Trustee Area Map #1 and accompanying Resolution in support of changing the election method to a By-Trustee Area. The vote taken was 3/2 (Farnbach and Hinkson opposed).
