Greetings Parents and Families!

We are so excited to announce the first annual VAPA Family Week! For the week of November 14th-November 18th, you are invited to come see first- hand what your child is learning during Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) instruction!  We are currently in the second of four rotations that go on throughout the year.  The end result is that your student receives 8-10 weeks of arts education in all four disciplines:  Visual art, music, dance, and theatre.  Each school site will provide the schedule with the date and time of your child’s VAPA class instruction on their school website.  (* Note to TK/K Parents:  Your child receives VAPA instruction once a month. Therefore, we welcome you to observe during the specified Kindergarten time slot, even if your child’s class does not attend VAPA that day.)

Please check in at the front office, and then you will be directed to the MPR!

In addition to visiting during Family Week, we invite you to explore our K-5 VAPA Website to see all that your child is learning throughout the school year in VAPA.  Please visit the website at:

We look forward to seeing you in our creative environment!

Did you ever say to yourself, “There Ought to be a law…”?

This month California State Senator Jeff Stone (R-Riverside County) is launching his second annual “There Ought to be law” contest for high school students in the 28th Senate District.

The district, which is entirely in Riverside County, stretches from the vineyards of the Temecula Valley to the Colorado River and includes the cities of Blythe, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Murrieta, Temecula, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Wildomar.

Last year our office received more than 70 entries from high school students across the district.

Alyson White, a senior at Rancho Mirage High School, was last year’s winner for her bill to increase the penalties for those abuse animals.

Senator Stone introduced her bill, SB 1395, and Alyson and her mother were guests of the Senator in Sacramento in April 2016 when Alyson testified before a Senate committee.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students to actually participate in the legislative process.

Attached please find a press release, flyer and a link to the Senator’s website -- --where the entry form can be found. Students can fill out the form on-line or download it and sent it in.

The deadline is December 2, 2016.

All 9-12 graders are eligible to participate who live in the 28th District are eligible to enter.

Thanks for your help and if you have any questions check the Senator’s website ---
