The Temecula Valley Unified School District will accept Intradistrict open enrollment transfer requests to a different school other than the home school or school of attendance for the 2017/2018 school year, from October 12, 2016 to January 31, 2017, in accordance with Board Policy 5116.1. 

During the open enrollment window, parents or guardians who live within the District’s attendance boundaries are able to request to have their child attend a school other than their home school or school of attendance.  All requests received during the open enrollment period receive equal priority consideration regardless of date received.

Open Enrollment Instructions:
The application timeline is:  Wednesday, October 12, 2016 to Tuesday, January 31, 2017.  All applications must be submitted by January 31, 2017 to be considered for the 2017/18 school year.  In order to staff our schools, we are unable to receive priority consideration requests after this date (no exceptions).

All requests must be submitted online:


Requests received after the open enrollment period closes on January 31, 2017 will be placed on a Wait List only, in the order they are received.  Evaluation of the Wait List will not be completed until August 30, 2017, two weeks after the start of the school year, and parents will only be notified if their request can be approved.  Please be sure to submit your request by the January 31, 2017 deadline.


Matriculating Students:

If your child is matriculating to a new school level as a 6th or 9th grader and you would like to request a school other than your middle or high school of residence, you must submit a transfer request by the January 31, 2017 deadline.


Siblings, TK (Transitional Kindergarten) Students Going to Kindergarten, and Overflowed Students:

Incoming siblings of students already on a transfer must also submit a transfer request by January 31, 2017 in order to attend the same transfer school.


Transitional kindergarten (TK) students, who were enrolled at a school other than their home school for the current school year, must submit a transfer request by January 31, 2017 if they wish to continue at that school for Kindergarten and the following elementary grades.


Overflowed students who wish to continue at the overflow school, instead of their home school, must also submit a transfer request by January 31, 2017.

El Distrito Escolar del Valle de Temecula aceptará Solicitudes de Transferencia Intradistrito en Inscripción Abierta a una escuela diferente que no sea la escuela de residencia o asistencia para el año escolar 2017/2018, del 12 de octubre del 2016 al 31 de enero del 2017, de acuerdo a la Política de Junta 5116.1. 

Durante el periodo de Inscripción Abierta, los padres o tutores que viven dentro de los límites geográficos de asistencia del Distrito pueden solicitar que su niño/a asista a otra escuela que no sea su escuela de residencia o de asistencia.  Todas las solicitudes recibidas durante el período de Inscripción Abierta reciben igual consideración prioritaria no importando la fecha en que son recibidas.

Instrucciones para Inscripción Abierta:

Hermanos, Estudiantes de TK (Transitional Kindergarten) ingresando a Kindergarten, y Estudiantes Inscritos en una Escuela de Sobrecupo:

Hermanos de estudiantes que ya tienen una transferencia aprobada a otra escuela también tienen que entregar una solicitud de transferencia antes del 31 de enero del 2017 para poder asistir a la misma escuela de transferencia.


Estudiantes de Kindergarten Transicional (TK), quienes fueron inscritos en una escuela que no es su escuela de residencia este año, deberán entregar una solicitud de transferencia a más tardar el 31 de enero del 2017 si desean continuar en esa escuela para Kindergarten y los siguientes grados de primaria.


Estudiantes inscritos en una escuela de sobrecupo para este año y que desean continuar en la escuela de sobrecupo en lugar de su escuela de residencia también deberán entregar una solicitud de transferencia antes del 31 de enero.

The Temecula Valley Unified School District is soliciting applicants who are interested in serving on its Citizen’s Oversight Committee for bond projects. The term of service will be two years, and the Board anticipates making appointments at its regularly scheduled board meeting of December 13, 2016.

The Committee membership is required to include one member who is active in a business organization that represents the business community of the District; one member active in a senior citizen’s organization; one member active in a bona fide taxpayer association; one member who is a parent or guardian of a child enrolled in the District; and one member who in addition to having a child enrolled in the District is also active in a parent-teacher organization. No member may be an employee or official of the District nor any vendor, contractor or consultant of the District.

A member active in a taxpayer association is specifically desired.

The committee must consist of at least seven members who will actively review and report on the proper expenditure of the bond proceeds. There is no salary or stipend associated with service on this committee.

TVUSD would like to invite all parents, students, staff and community members to join us for an exciting NEW town hall gathering specifically designed to include all schools in a specific region of the district (North, Central, and South).  This new format will allow you to connect with families and staff serving all elementary, middle and high schools within your feeder school zone and discuss important issues about your child’s  education.  Less meetings for you to attend and more collaboration.  This new program is called the CAP and will focus on communication, student achievement, plans and school funding.  

We hope you will join us and represent your child’s school on at the scheduled region meeting.  

If you cannot attend this event, additional gatherings have been scheduled in other regions and you are welcome to attend.

Did you ever say to yourself, “There Ought to be a law…”?


This month California State Senator Jeff Stone (R-Riverside County) is launching his second annual “There Ought to be law” contest for high school students in the 28th Senate District.


The district, which is entirely in Riverside County, stretches from the vineyards of the Temecula Valley to the Colorado River and includes the cities of Blythe, Canyon Lake, Cathedral City, Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, Lake Elsinore, La Quinta, Murrieta, Temecula, Palm Springs, Rancho Mirage and Wildomar.


Last year our office received more than 70 entries from high school students across the district.


Alyson White, a senior at Rancho Mirage High School, was last year’s winner for her bill to increase the penalties for those abuse animals.


Senator Stone introduced her bill, SB 1395, and Alyson and her mother were guests of the Senator in Sacramento in April 2016 when Alyson testified before a Senate committee.


This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our students to actually participate in the legislative process.

What Does a Student Pollworker Do?
Student Pollworkers perform the same tasks of adult Pollworkers. After attending Election Officer training, the Student Pollworker is assigned to a polling place and he/she receives an appointment letter indicating the name and location of the polling place and with whom he/she will be working. All Election Officers are responsible for assisting with voting equipment set-up on Election Eve and must work all day on Election Day. On Election Day, all Election Officers must report to the polling place by 6:15 a.m. Lunch and other break times are coordinated throughout the day. Polls close at 8:00 p.m. and Election Officers are responsible for completing required paperwork, preparing ballot cartridges for transport, stowing/storing voting equipment, and closing and securing the polling place facility. All Elections Officers are dismissed upon completion of required tasks.

Who is Eligible?
Riverside County students of Public and Private schools, meeting the following criteria:

Attending school in a participating school district
Have at least a 2.5 GPA
Have a completed Nomination Form on file with the Registrar of Voters Office

The Riverside County Office of Education has provided legal notice as prescribed by law to local governing boards to consolidate the biennial governing board elections and that they will be held on November 8, 2016.  




NOVEMBER 8, 2016


Pursuant to Education Code Sections 5000, 5324, 5325, and 5361, the Riverside County Superintendent of Schools hereby gives formal notice of the regular biennial governing board member elections to be held in the community college, elementary and unified school districts in Riverside County.


Said elections shall be held on the general election date of November 8, 2016.


Pursuant to the provision of Education Code Section 5340, the aforementioned elections are required to be consolidated when two or more school districts of any type are conducting governing board elections in the same territory, on the same date, with the elementary districts being the basic unit for said consolidation.  All of the referenced school districts were notified, in writing, by the County Superintendent of Schools, at least 130 days prior to November 8, 2016, that a consolidated election is to be held.
