Already Grandfathered?

Students who were Grandfathered during the 2013/14 Boundary-Related Special Open Enrollment window DO NOT NEED to submit a new transfer request, as long as they continue to meet the conditions outlined in their original Grandfathered transfer.

Please visit our home page or click here to be redirected to an interactive school site locator.

  2. I have submitted one Intradistrict Transfer Request per child using the online form provided.  When will I hear back from the district?

For transfer requests submitted during the Open Enrollment period, official notifications will be sent by the end of May via email or postal mail.

Transfer requests submitted after the Open Enrollment period will be placed on a Wait List in the order they are received.  Parents/Guardians will ONLY be notified IF space becomes available for the transfer to be approved.  If you are not contacted by the end of August, we were unable to approve your transfer request from the Wait List, and the Wait List will be cancelled.

  3. What is the criteria for approving an Intradistrict Transfer request?

During Open Enrollment, we give equal priority consideration to all requests, regardless of when they were submitted during the Open Enrollment window.   Space availability at the school, grade and/or program requested is the major determining factor for approval.

Transfer requests received after Open Enrollment are placed on a Wait List and reviewed in the order they are received.  Date received and space availability at the school, grade and/or program requested are the major determining factors for approval.

  4. Do I need to submit a new Intradistrict Transfer request every year?

No, once an Intradistrict Transfer is approved, it is valid for all grades at the same school, as long as you continue to live within the TVUSD attendance boundary, your child is continuously enrolled, and he or she has satisfactory attendance and behavior.

When your child is ready to move on to middle school (6th grade) or high school (9th grade), he or she will automatically be enrolled at his or her school of residence.  If you would like to request a different school for middle or high school, you will need to submit an Intradistrict Transfer Request during Open Enrollment of the prior year (5th or 8th grade).

  5. If I have not received a response to my transfer request yet, should I wait to enroll  or register my child?

No, the enrollment or registration process is independent of the transfer process.  You must enroll or register your child at your school of residence, until you have received an official response regarding your transfer request.

  6. If my student is currently on an Intradistrict transfer, will his/her siblings automatically go to the transfer school as well?

No, siblings also need to submit an Intradistrict Transfer Request to the desired school during Open Enrollment of the prior year in which they will attend.  Otherwise, they will be enrolled at their school of residence.

  7. If my student is currently in Transitional Kindergarten (TK), will he/she automatically be enrolled at the same school next year, even though it’s not our school of residence?

No, TK students need to submit an Intradistrict Transfer Request during Open Enrollment of their TK year to remain at a school that is not their school of residence for Kindergarten the following year.  Otherwise, they will be enrolled at their school of residence.

  8. If my student is currently on an Intradistrict transfer, but we want to go back to our school of residence, what do we do?

Students on an Intradistrict Transfer are committed to completing the entire first school year at the transfer school.  As of the second year, parents may opt to return to their home school before the start of the new school year, by enrolling at the school of residence during Returning Student Enrollment for the following school year.

  9. We recently moved. What do I need to do?

Parents/Guardians must notify their child(ren)’s school(s) when their address changes.  Please take two proofs of residency for your new address to your child’s school.  You may view a guide to acceptable proofs of residency here.  The school site will inform you of the next steps to take, if any.

  10. If I received an approved Intradistrict Transfer but didn't enroll my child or cancelled it, is it still valid for the following school year?

No, you will need to submit a new Intradistrict Transfer Request during Open Enrollment for the following school year.
